Maxi ‘doubtful’, Zelalem out against Inter Miami

City could be without two players tomorrow morning

The status of Maxi Moralez seems to be changing daily. New York City FC’s star midfielder sustained a quad injury in the lead-up to their second MLS is Back group stage game against Orlando City, an injury that was initially reported as being pretty serious and could’ve left him out of action for “several weeks.” Days later, however, it was reported that Maxi’s injury was perhaps not as severe as initially suspected and that he could be available as soon as Monday’s game against Inter Miami.

Unfortunately, it seems that NYCFC will have to do without Maxi for at least one more game as he is listed as ‘doubtful’ on the injury report for tomorrow’s clash with the newly established Miami. Midfielder Gedion Zelalem was ruled out entirely with an undisclosed knee injury.

A video posted earlier today by NYCFC showed Maxi participating in training, albeit on the side and not integrated with the team.

Let’s hope that the Argentinian is close to returning to play.
