New York City FC’s 3-1 drubbing of the Chicago Fire this weekend was a joy to watch for fans. After a rough start to the season that saw the Boys in Blue collect only three points through their first six games, NYCFC has rallied and collected two consecutive wins in an effort to re-establish themselves as a top contender in MLS.
Though an argument can be made that Maxi Moralez was snubbed from MLS’s Team of the Week due to his excellent second half appearance against Chicago, Anton Tinnerholm and Alexander Ring are fine choices for this week’s top honors.

Right back Tinnerholm had an exceptionally good game against the Fire, scoring what would ultimately be the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute before essentially putting it completely out of reach in the game’s final stretch with an assist to Ring that featured a tremendous amount of dribbling skill that shed not one, but two Chicago defenders.

Tinnerholm’s goal and assist were both firsts for him in 2020, whereas Ring’s tally brings him to two consecutive games where he has found the back of the net.
Ring has been with the team since the 2017 preseason and quickly ascended to team captain following David Villa’s departure from NYCFC after the 2019 season. Tinnerholm joined the club one year later in 2018 and has established himself as one of, if not the best attacking fullback in the league with his defensive and playmaking abilities, as well as having a knack for delivering spectacular goals from the right flank.
Congrats, Boys! Keep those wins coming!
