FT: #NYCFC bounce back with a big 4-0 win over Cincinnati. In a game that was decided in the opening minutes, Alexandru Mitrita returned to the lineup with a bang, scoring a brace including a goal in the first 30 seconds. Additional goals came from Tinnerholm and Medina. pic.twitter.com/s57QzHfC0c

88’: GOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! City cap off their big night with a fourth!
Jesus Medina steps up to take a free kick. Despite the set piece hitting the defending wall, the bounce is dramatic enough to severely redirect the ball just inside of the far post. Medina’s goal puts NYCFC up to 4-0!
86’: Cacha Acevedo and Tony Rocha come on for Alexandru Mitrita and Keaton Parks.
77' Gudi Thorarinsson and Gary Mackay-Steven come on for Matarrita and Tajouri-Shradi, respectively. Great shifts from both of those guys. Also, Mata's shaved head is still a shock to the system. #NYCFC

75’: If this game isn’t proof that ITS should be starting over Gary Mackay-Steven, I don’t know what is. Izzy has been explosive in the attack and has demonstrated the courage to take on defenders 1-v-1 and make something happen, even it’s out of nothing.
67’: NYCFC continue to create good chances. Despite not being as clinical as they were in the first half, the Blues have still applied a lot of pressure in the second half and have had several close calls with goal. I sense a fourth goal coming sooner or later.
58' That flick from Taty was brilliant. Had Medina knew it was coming, that could've been a beauty of a play. #NYCFC

50’: Taty almost made it four! The Argentinian took advantage of the massive space he found himself in and let it rip from outside the area. Unfortunately, the shot caroms off the post.
The second half has begun! Can City add onto an impressive first half?
HT: NYCFC head into the locker room with a 3-0 lead over Cinci!
In what is most definitely the best half they’ve played in 2020, New York City got off to a rocking start with Mitrita scoring just 30 seconds into the matchup, a team record. From there, Anton Tinnerholm would add a tally to the scoresheet before Mitri capped off the half with a brace!
Everything is working right now. This is the City we’ve been waiting to see!
43’: GOOOOOOOOAAALLLLL!!! Mitri grabs a brace!!!
James Sands takes his space in the midfield before lacing a diagonal ball to Mitrita lying in wait. Mitri gathers himself in front of goal and slides the ball in with his left foot. That’s his second of the game, and City’s third! What a first half! 3-0 NYCFC!

39' BIG save from Sean Johnson on an impressive Cinci free kick! #NYCFC

38’: Alex Ring comes off for Jesus Medina due to a leg injury. Let’s hope this one isn’t too serious.
34’: Alex Callens goes into the book. Due to yellow card accumulation, he will be ineligible for City’s next game.
25’: GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! NYCFC pad their early advantage!
Ismael Tajouri-Shradi holds up play on the right wing before slipping Tinnerholm through. The Swede takes a few tight touches before firing a shot between the keeper’s legs. The ball finds the net and gives City a 2-0 lead early!
A thing of beauty @isitj29 and @AntonTinnerholm combine to double our lead in the first half #NYCFC pic.twitter.com/p6DG7y5Tjy

23' Oof. A bad turnover at the back almost proves costly. But, nothing doing. Still 1-0 #NYCFC
— Hudson River Blue (@hudsonriverblue) September 26, 2020
19’: Mitri and Izzy look great! Their ability on the ball is just outstanding. They’re evading markers and creating plays out of nothing.
Ten minutes in. City have some serious bite.
I love the way the team is moving the ball right now. They’re finding a lot of space in the buildup and already have a goal to show for it. This is the kind of start fans dream of.
1’: GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!! City make a statement early!
In a moment that you would’ve missed had you blinked, NYCFC begin on the counter. Anton Tinnerholm finds Alexandru Mitrita in the middle. The Romanian takes a scintillating touch past the Cinci defense before driving the ball hard and low into the far corner!
Great start! 1-0 NYCFC!
Hope you weren't late tuning in to tonight's match...

We’re off in Jersey! Can City have a big bounce-back win against Cinci?
Rosters are out! In a pleasant surprise, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Alexandru Mitrita have both been inserted into the lineup. Taty Castellanos replaces the injured Héber, while Ronald Matarrita returns to the starting sheet.

The story: New York City FC’s six-game unbeaten streak came to a crushing end over the weekend, losing to Toronto FC in the dying minutes of the game due to a penalty despite outclassing their Canadian opponents throughout. The loss also saw striker Héber sustain a torn ACL, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the year.
With the pressure mounting to start consistently scoring goals and racking up convincing victories, the Boys in Blue once again square off against FC Cincinnati in an effort to regain some momentum heading in the MLS 2020 Phase 2 finale.
A big win could put City back on the right track as it pertains to collecting confidence as the season enters the backstretch.
