New York City FC’s huge 4-0 drubbing of FC Cincinnati over this past weekend has rejuvenated the club’s fan base. Coming off the heels of a disappointing and disheartening 1-0 defeat to Toronto FC the previous week — only made worse by the season-ending ACL injury to striker Héber — it was important that NYCFC not wallow in their sorrows for too long.
The team’s performance was inspiring to say the least. But two particular individual performances stood out above the rest — those of Alexandru Mitrita and Anton Tinnerholm. And because of their stellar outings, they were named to MLS’s Team of the Week!

Having struggled with cracking into the first team under manager Ronny Deila, Mitrita — who is typically a winger — featured as a center attacking midfielder in place of the injured Maxi Moralez and usual replacement Jesus Medina. The decision to utilize Mitri as a central attacker as opposed to an inverted winger payed dividends for City as the Romanian Designated Player scored a brace in the first half, including a goal just 30 seconds into the match which is good for the fastest goal ever scored in NYCFC history.
Per usual, Tinnerholm put in a brilliant shift at the right back position, solidifying his spot as the best right back in the league. Contributing immensely to both the defense and attack with his trademark pace and work rate, TinnerBoom contributed to the goal sheet by netting an impressive five-hole goal in the 25th minute, the second of City’s four goal on the evening.
By the way, Anton Tinnerholm is the best right back in MLS. You can't change my mind. #NYCFC

Congrats to both of the boys for making this week’s TotW. Much deserved. Now let’s keep this form going into Phase 3!
