The Argentinian striker is expected to stay with City “for a long time”

Two weeks into their 2021 season, New York City FC has been the epicenter for the rumor mill. Striker Taty Castellanos has been connected to a move to Brazilian club Palmeiras, with the most recent reports out of Brazil being that the Argentinian forward had demanded a move from the Front Office.

According to Ronny Deila, however, these rumors are baseless.

In a virtual press conference on Thursday, the NYCFC manager was quickly asked about Taty’s transfer status. And he wasted no time to put the kibosh on the rumors.

“That’s not a question to answer,” Deila told the press. “[Taty’s] gonna stay here, that’s for sure. He’s a very important player for us. He’s developed a lot the last year. Right now, he’s the key guy up front for us, and we will never let him go now. We need to keep him here. We want to keep him for many years, that’s for sure. He’s still young and has a big potential. He will play on Saturday and he’ll be ready to be with us in the future as well.”

Ronny’s declaration is sure to come as a relief to NYCFC supporters. While Taty is still a polarizing figure amongst the City faithful, his value to the club has increased exponentially as he has not only upped his production over the last year, but is the club’s only healthy striker currently rostered.

Go home, Palmeiras fans. Nothing to see here!
