Alfredo Morales returns to training for NYCFC

The German-born midfielder has missed the last three of City’s games due to injury

New York City FC have been hobbled by injuries recently. At one point or another for the past several weeks, the club has had to make due without the services of Maxi Moralez, Anton Tinnerholm, Alexander Callens, and Alfredo Morales in addition to the still inactive Héber who’s been hurt since last fall.

While Tinnerholm and Callens’ returns are still to be determined, Maxi returned as a late substitution against the Columbus Crew in a losing 2-1 effort over the weekend. And from the looks of it, Alfredo Morales isn’t far off from his return as well.

In addition to Thiago Andrade and new Young Designated Player Talles Magno getting their first sessions with club (get in!), NYCFC posted pictures of Alfredo being a full participant in training ahead of this weekend’s game against LAFC.

Nicolas Acevedo and Keaton Parks have both mostly played really well in the midfield since City moved to a three-back formation several weeks ago and moved James Sands from the defensive midfield to the middle center back position. Supplanting either one of them should not be an easy task.

But a player of Alfredo’s experience and skillset is always good to have when it comes to competing for starting roles week in, week out. And with the squad inching closer and closer to getting to full strength, there’s no such thing as too many players.
