New York City FC have announced that they have loaned two players out to USL Championship teams. The players, left back Chris Gloster and goalkeeper Luis Barraza, will be loaned out to the Sacramento Republic FC and Oakland Roots SC, respectively.

Barraza has been deep in the City depth chart since being drafted in 2019. His sole competitive appearance came in the club’s 4-0 loss to Tigres UANL in the CONCACAF Champions League back in December after primary keeper Sean Johnson and his temporary backup Mason Stadjuhar both contracted COVID-19.

Gloster arrived to NYCFC prior to this season on a permanent transfer from Dutch club PSV. He has made two appearances in 2021, both from the bench.

NYCFC has confirmed that they have to right to recall Gloster and/or Barraza at any time.

On the transfers, NYCFC Sporting Director David Lee had this to say in the press release: “With the break in the MLS schedule at the beginning of June, we felt this was an excellent opportunity for Luis and Chris to play competitive minutes ahead of the league’s resumption on June 19th.”
