Halftime Notes: NYCFC vs. Columbus Crew

The biggest takeaways from the first 45 minutes of play

MLS: Orlando City SC at New York City FC Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

New York City FC currently lead Columbus Crew 2-0 at halftime! Here are our biggest takeaways:

Taty Stays Hot: After a goalscoring drought that lasted 9 games, Taty has now found himself on the score sheet in two consecutive games. Should he be able to keep up at least a semi-decent pace, the sky is the limit.

The Return of the ThiaGOAL: Every time he’s on the ball, Thiago is electric. This week, he showed off his ridiculous speed before effortlessly chipping in a goal from an acute angle. He’s been the man to watch thus far.

Still room for improvement: Despite having a healthy lead, City could be doing even more to control the game and further lay it on the Crew. That starts with keeping possession and looking for that final pass. Anton Tinnerholm could have two goals in theory by now had someone spotted his forward runs.
