Halftime Notes: Chicago Fire vs. NYCFC

The biggest takeaways from the first half of play

MLS: New York City FC at Chicago Fire Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

New York City FC and the Chicago Fire are currently scoreless going into the half. Here are our takeaways so far.

No Final Product: Any time NYCFC has broken into the final third, the final pass/shot just hasn’t been there. Coming off a stretch where they scored 9 goals in 2 games, that’s disappointing.

Target the Kid!: The Fire are currently using a goalkeeper that has never played before and is the youngest keeper to ever play an MLS game. If City are to come away with a win, they need to start challenging him with shots.

Midfield Shakeup Needed?: Right now, I’m not liking what Alfredo Morales is bringing to this game. If he is good to go, I say Ronny needs to put in Cacha Acevedo at some point next half in order to get some playmaking from those deep areas.
