Halftime Notes: NYRB v. NYCFC

Thoughts at the intermission.

MLS: New York City FC at New York Red Bulls Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

NYCFC lead at the half 1-0! Here are a few notes from the first half.

  • City starts brightly, Red Bull aggressive in the early stages making sure to not allow NYCFC midfielders too much time on the ball. Typical NYRB pressing.
  • 7’ First big chance for Red Bull as a ball in behind is cut back forcing a save from Sean Johnson.
  • Tight whistle from the referee, game will be won by the team who can be cleaner in midfield.
  • BIG CHANCE for Tinnerholm off a lifted ball which he really he needs to score.
  • GOALLLLL. Argentinian connection strikes again as Maxi slides it through to Taty who gets his 13th goal of the season!
  • City starting to find gaps in midfield, Parks beginning to find his rhythm after a few sloppy giveaways.
  • Medina been poor, attacks seem to die as they reach his feet.
  • HT. NYCFC lead after a Taty Castellanos LEFT FOOTED (!!) strike. City are creating well they need to find a bit more quality in the final third to put this game to bed.
