NYCFC vs. Seattle CCL Preview

NYCFC are in Seattle for their Concacaf Champions League semifinal game. It is the first leg of two. The game will start at 10:00 pm ET on Wednesday.

NYCFC is coming of a disappointing 2-1 loss to Toronto. A missed penalty by VAR cost New York the game. On the other hand, Seattle is coming off a 2-1 win against Minnesota.

With that in mind, NYCFC are confident that they're losing streak doesn't mean anything. "We don't feel like we need to prove ourselves," Santiago Rodriguez said. "Obviously we know that we're a very good team, we have the same team as last year. Obviously we're going through a little bit of a cold streak, but that's normal, every team goes through that at certain points throughout the season. But we're in the semifinals of the Champions League and that happens for a reason. We just want to focus on improving and getting better each week, each game. We know that the good results will come and we don't feel like we need to prove ourselves. We just need to go out there and play our game and we'll let the results speak for itself."

Ronny Deila is confident they can pull off a win. "I'm not concerned about anything," Ronny Deila said. "We are very confident in the team, we have played so many times on artificial [turf] and I think we've had good performances every time we've been in that [situation]. In New England we've played 3-4 times and done well. I think we like to play [on] artificial, it's a good thing for us. At the same time, it's a game of 180 minutes and also it's their strength to play at home. So I think for us we have to defend well of course tomorrow, that we can get the best result as possible to play at home in New York."

There is some excitement for NYCFC fans: Head Coach Ronny Deila said in a report that Gabriel Pereira will likely make his debut appearance for New York. That was said on April1st before the Toronto game. Pereira didn't play. That means he has the chance to make his debut in CCL. Imagine Gabriel Pereira, makes his debut in the CCL semifinals, and scores to give New York the lead. That's something New York will, need, and something that Pereira could run into the MLS.

Everyone should be available for New York except for Anton Tinnerholm and Maxime Chanot. Chanot was mildly injured in a national team game. Gray is also returned from his injury. With a full lineup, hopefully New York can do some damage while they're away.

NYCFC Predicted Lineup: Johnson; Gray, Callens, Martins, Amundsen, Parks, Morales, Rodriguez, Moralez, Magno, Castellanos

Seattle Predicted Lineup: Frei; A. Roldan, Arreaga, Ragen, Rowe, Rusnak, Joao Paulo, Morris, Lodeiro, C. Roldan, Ruidiaz

You can watch the game on FS1 and TUDN, and listen to the game on NYCFC radio.
