Unfortunately, there was only one game in a weekend when international friendlies took the headlines.

Only Game

Vancouver Whitecaps 2 - 1 Real Salt Lake
The first goal came in the 31st minute for Vancouver, when Ranko Veselinović flicked it in to give his team a 1-0 lead. Early into the second half, Real Salt Lake responded when they played a ball over the top for Justin Meram, who put it away to even the game. It went back and forth for the rest of regulation time, but in the 91st minute Salt Lake’s Aaron Herrera fouled a Vancouver player in the box. Red card! Penalty! Vancouver’s Ryan Gauld scored from the spot, and it ended with a win for Vancouver. Real Salt Lake remains in a two-way tie for second place in the Western Conference, while Vancouver climbed above Seattle Sounders to 10th place.

Goal of the Week

Of the three goals scored this week, the one scored by Salt Lake’s Justin Meram stands out for its composure and quality.
