Talk about making a strong first impression: Taty Castellanos scored on his debut for New York City FC back on August 4, 2018, when he knocked in a Jo Inge Berget cross to give his team a 2-1 lead over the Vancouver Whitecaps at Yankee Stadium. Castellanos was in the Starting XI after training with the club for just one week, slotting in at striker for David Villa — who was suspended for refusing to play in the All Star Game. Vancouver went on to score an equalizer in the 87th minute. Good times.

Over the weekend, Castellanos scored two goals in the frustrating draw at home against Atlanta United, giving him 10 goals in MLS league games this season and tying him for the lead in the Golden Boot. To put that in perspective, last year Castellanos scored his 10th goal on Game Day 20, when NYCFC played New England Revolution on August 28. This year, he reached that mark on Game Day 17.

Those two goals were also Castellanos’s 49th and 50th for NYCFC in all competitions. To celebrate that milestone the club spliced together a 22-minute highlight reel that features multiple angles of all 50 goals — if you’re looking for a reason to distract yourself at work, this is it. You not only see the good, bad, ugly, and phenomenal goals Taty scores, you can also track his evolving hairstyles, his increasing tattoo coverage, his bulked-up physique. So much has changed in these (almost) four years.

But much has remained the same: Castellanos has always been hungry and tireless in front of goal, a physical player who doesn't let the opposing defense intimidate or cow him. The striker has become much less wasteful, and much more ruthless. He deserves this victory lap.
