New York City FC was back home under the Friday Night Lights at Yankee Soccer Stadium, where they beat Orlando City SC 4-2 to snap a three-game losing streak.

The game was a wild one, as New York City led 3-0 at halftime but let in a pair of late goals to make for a slightly tense final few minutes.

• Santi Rodríguez scored a dreamer from distance to extend his team lead with eight goals scored
• Tayvon Gray picked up two first-half assists, suddenly a playmaker
• Mounsef Bakrar came on as a sub and iced the victory with a well-taken 93rd minute finish

The ratings form will remain open until midnight on Sunday, June 30. The results will be published on Monday, July 1.

  1. Dominant first half. Took foot off the gas for some of second half. Woke up late with some good substitutions. The Bakrar goal turned the postgame feels from “phew” to “whoo!”

  2. while amongst all the goods, some nitty gritty things i’ve found: Perea seems a bit off—to usual himself—not only in the last one but kinda in all recent games. hard to call fatigue as he was not always starting. energy still seems up there, it’s a bit of off-synch with others in the team. need to sharpen.still what really makes the team performance different is the spine aka Sands & Keaton. when Sands holds well + Keaton pinballs well = the team play clicks. the “Maxi timing” needs to be careful and bit smarter. seems it starts to get deciphered by some smarter coaches i.e) Nancy, Perea etc. except the 1st one after his back, the last 2 or 3 was not very effective as if it was expected by the opponents. the last night one was somewhat better, they didn’t seem to expect Maxi was ‘replacing’ Santi in the middle of the game. or i do worry too much? we can see KOT sits a bit more ‘back’. while understandable, he became less effective TBH. hope the FO still try to enforce the LB situation—tho the recent Sims interview didn’t indicate it. having to send Tavon to the left, filling the right with Illenic as the depth seems not comfortable, when it comes as needed.
