New York City FC’s 2025 season has come to an end after losing 5-1 in the Eastern Conference Final to Inter Miami CF. Now it’s time for you to rate the players.

New York City weren’t supposed to be here. The team finished in 5th Place in the Eastern Conference table, and lost two essential starters in Alonso MartĂnez and AndrĂ©s Perea to injuries in recent weeks, but they found a way to upset Charlotte FC in Round One, then Philadelphia Union in the Eastern Conference Semifinal. But tonight they came up against the buzzsaw that is Inter Miami, a team that now have 17 goals in five playoff games.

  1. That first 15 of the game was the best I have seen them play in a loooooong time. Game changed when Keaton went out which shows how valuable he is but they still played with intensity. Big thing was a bunch of players that have put in questionable performances..showed real desire. Wolf was playing the best defense he’s shown all season, as was Fernandez. That recovery sprint by Martins? The grit showed by Risa? I was just so proud of the effort displayed in this game.

  2. If I had to pick a silver lining from getting shutout by the 14th best USL Championship team this season, I guess is that Romero kept this from beign worse by having a good day. He’s the man of the match for me.

    1. Same here. Romero was a shining star tonight. And Shore just keeps playing like a 25 year old (in a good way).

  3. Your form is flawed for tonight’s game (5/28) – no player is player of the game. Those of us who turned up in person for this crap should get all the accolades

  4. Wolf had a great game, to be sure. But, c’mon, Ilenic had an even better one, not just the goal and assist. He was often making dangerous runs, dribbles, overlaps. Someday I’d like to see what he could do as a winger.

  5. Marrufo usually calls a good game. But the horsecollar takedown of O’Toole warranted a straight red and maybe more. A bad miss.

  6. Q: How is NYCFC like an Ivy League college? A: Those in authority like to punish them. (O’Toole’s horsecollar, the straight-in to Wolf’s ankle, the kickaway to [near] Wolf’s ribs.)

  7. First time I had to question coaching decisions. Hindsight is always perfect, but against Miami defense you figured an all-out attack from the start was in order. Failing that, attack-minded subs were in order much earlier than they occurred.
