New York City FC player ratings are determined by you the Hudson River Blue readers: Here are your NYCFC player ratings from the uninspired 1-0 loss on the road against CF Montréal on Matchday 19.
A lengthy break in MLS action didn't bring the best out of New York City FC as they lost for a second time this season to lowly CF Montréal, resulting in another rough round of player ratings.
The Starting XI was unchanged from the 4-0 home win over Atlanta United FC on June 12, when eight starters earned their highest ratings of the season and the Starting XI as a unit averaged a season-high 7.5 rating.
Fast forward 16 days later and New York City's attack disappeared in Montréal, with the Starting XI averaging a much lower 4.6 rating and the team's starting striker coming in at a rough 2.9 rating. Three players, in fact, got their lowest ratings of the season – Mounsef Bakrar's 2.9, plus Andrés Perea at 3.4 and Julián Fernández at 3.2. The blame was spread around for the second loss to Montréal of the season.

Whatever clicked at Yankee Stadium against Atlanta didn't translate to Stade Saputo, especially in a sluggish first half. Even in defeat, New York City got a few decent performances out of its defensive unit. Our Player Spotlight focuses on the team's most flexible defender-slash-midfielder, while Player of the Match goes to the fill-in who single-handedly kept this from being a more lopsided result in Montréal's favor.
