New York City FC player ratings are determined by Hudson River Blue readers — here are your NYCFC player ratings after the team lost to Minnesota United at Citi Field in their first MLS regular season match following a lengthy Leagues Cup break.

Starting XI

Mounsef Bakrar (of 79′) – 5.2

It was a day of almosts for Mounsef Bakrar, who was inches away from scoring on numerous occasions. He even found the back of the net at one point, just to see the flag go up and halt the celebrations.

The bright side is that he was in all the right areas. He was making great runs all night, pressing opposing defenders hard, and making life generally difficult for Minnesota for the majority of his 79-minute outing. But, he HAS to put home at least one of those clear chances to get NYCFC on the scoreboard.

That’s what he was brought in to do, and if Mounsef isn’t scoring — who is?

FotMob gave a 6.4 for the performance.
