This morning, the Men In Blazers Media Network confirmed that New York City FC's Matt Freese and Justin Haak will take part in a live event on Friday, September 18, in Manhattan that will celebrate the upcoming Hudson River Derby.
The "Men In Blazers: Live! In New York" lineup now features MIB head honcho Roger Bennet; Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart of the New York Knicks; Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Emil Forsberg of New York Red Bulls; Michael Bradley of New York Red Bulls II, and Freese and Haak of NYCFC.
"Men In Blazers: Live! In New York" will take place on Friday, September 18, at Terminal 5. Doors open at 6:30 pm ET, and the show will begin at 7:30 pm ET. General admission tickets cost $20 and can be purchased here.
No New York City players were included when the event was first announced in late August. As we reported in Hudson River Blue last week, that was because NYCFC had yet to confirm which players would participate. In other words, the blue side of the city was always going to be represented.

Now that we know who those players will be, we anticipate some spicy exchanges between the spine of the New York City defense and the two superstars of the Red Bulls attack. Freese, Haak, and the rest of the NYCFC squad have allowed just 33 goals this season, the joint-second-fewest in Major League Soccer. On the other side of the field, Choupo-Moting and Forsberg account for 25 of their team's 43 goals, the 16th-best in the league. The two teams will play each other at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 pm ET.
It will be interesting to see how the evening plays out. It's unusual to see rivals sitting around a table and talking before a highly-contested game.
The event will be broadcast on the Men In Blazers Media Network.
