Three Gotham FC players were named to the United States women's national team for the upcoming training camp and friendlies by head coach Emma Hayes. Midfielder Rose Lavelle (110 caps) and defender Emily Sonnet (108 caps) will be joined by midfielder Lilly Reale (0 caps), who received her first international call-up by the USWNT.
The USWNT has three friendlies scheduled for the camp that starts next week and runs through the first week of July.

This camp presents an opportunity for Reale to prove herself to Hayes. The 21-year-old signed with Gotham on January 3 after playing at UCLA, where she was named Defensive Player of the Year for three consecutive seasons. Reale has appeared with USWNT youth teams, and was called up for the USWNT Futures camp shortly after signing with Gotham, but she will be looking to earn her first Senior Team cap in this camp. Reale scored her first NWSL goal on April 13, when Gotham dominated North Carolina Courage in a 3-1 win at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
And it provides a chance for Lavelle to reintegrate herself into an evolving squad after returning from an injury suffered last November. Lavelle returned to the Gotham squad earlier this month, and has played a total of 26 minutes over two appearances.

Sonnett is once again with the national team after being the only Gotham player to make the roster for the May camp. Sonnet's 108 caps trails only Lavelle's 110, and the two will provide leadership to a largely inexperienced squad. Six out of the 25 players named by Hayes have zero caps, and another 13 have 10 caps or fewer. (You can find the full roster below.)
Two Gotham alums will also be in the camp. Goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn, the red-carded hero of Gotham's 2023 title-winning game, and Yazmeen Ryan, the standout attacker who left in a record-breaking trade that saw Houston Dash send $400,000 in allocation money to Gotham, also received call-ups.
