Local amateurs draw opponents in US Open Cup Second Qualifying Round

A healthy 15 clubs from New York and New Jersey will compete in the next qualifying round to be held in October, and two of the matches will take place in New York City.

On Friday, September 19, US Soccer announced the 2026 US Open Cup Qualifying pairings. The Second Qualifying Round is scheduled to take place the weekend of October 10-12 around the country, with 118 teams taking part.

The 22 winners from last weekend's First Qualifying Round will be joined by 96 teams that had a bye. Out of those 128 teams, 59 will advance to the Third Qualifying Round, which will be played the weekend of November 1-2.

Included in the 128 teams are 15 New York and New Jersey clubs, four of which played in the last round of qualifying this past weekend

Additionally, five teams were given byes into the Third Qualifying Round due to some regions having an odd number of teams.

This small group includes a team that has popped up in recent months: Ballard FC from Seattle, Washington, a club featured in recent Hudson River Blue coverage ahead of their USL League Two final match against eventual champion Vermont Green FC.
