Major League Soccer is recognizing the Juneteenth 2023 holiday with a limited-edition design by street artist Gianni Lee. Called “The Seeds We Plant. The Flowers We Share.,” the decorative jersey numbers have an Afrofuturistic feel. Those are “bio-mechanical flowers” according to an official statement, and that description sounds right to us.

A limited-edition run of just 29 official kits will be made, one for each club. Fans can bid on the jerseys at MLSauctions.com, and the proceeds will go to “organizations that impact the Black community in each club’s local market,” according to a statement issued by MLS.

Individual numbers are available for sale at the Black Players for Change webshop, and cost $35 each. They’re available in a variety of colors, but it looks like the white and grey design suits New York City FC’s Triboro Kit best.

There is also a Juneteenth shoulder patch that costs $15.

MLS players will be wearing the Juneteenth 2023 “The Seeds We Plant. The Flowers We Share.” design on their warmup jerseys this weekend.
