Another New York City FC kit, another kit leak: It looks like the kids over at Footyheadlines.com got their hands on images of the NYCFC green kit that will officially drop next Wednesday, August 16. As always, the shirt is from adidas, the official kit supplier for MLS.
We don’t know much about the 2023 NYCFC third kit, but to judge by the images posted on the site it is very, very green — with a blue racing stripe down the sides. This follows last year’s release of the Volt Kit, which is very, very orange. Both are colorful departures from the sky blues and dark hues that make up most of the offerings in NYCFC’s nine years of kit history.
We understand the 2023 third kit is a collaboration between NYCFC and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation — there’s even an NYC Parks insignia on the hip. That’s cool. After a little internet sleuthing (rather, after a quick search on Google) we learned that NYC Parks already sells merch. Socks, bow ties, dog collars: They have it all. Even more hardcore, they don’t ship — you need to pick up your purchases at the Parks department HQ in Central Park.
Presumably, shipping will be available when the NYCFC x NYC Parks kit is released next Wednesday.
One shirt it brings to mind: The 2013-2014 away kit for La Hoya Lorca, which then played in Spain’s Segunda Divisíon B, but that made headlines worldwide for their broccoli-print jersey.
