NYCFC vs Charlotte FC Player Ratings

New York City FC kicked off the 2024 season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. NYCFC played like it was 2023 all over again, and struggled to defend set pieces or create scoring opportunities.  

New York City conceded in the eighth minute from a corner kick, and never seemed to find its footing in the game. Goalkeeper Matt Freese kept NYCFC in it with a penalty kick save, but New York City ultimately suffered their fifth opening day defeat in a row.
