Last week, we reported on the New York City FC x adidas Soft Lux collaboration that went on sale at Yankee Stadium. Details were light at the time – we didn't have access to a price list – but a reader who went to the shop commented that clothes were pricey. Like, they cost wayyy too much. "Well the clothes looked cool but the price tag didn't. Selling an $80 sweater for $240 is so insulting," Brooke wrote.
Good news, Brooke. That $80 sweater (or "Soft Lux Crew," to use the official term) that was marked at $240 is, in fact $80. Hudson River Blue contacted NYCFC directly, and we were told by the club that the pricing at Yankee Stadium was a mistake.
The correct prices are as follows:
• Soft Lux Crew: $80.00
• Soft Lux Pant: $80.00
• Soft Lux Tee: $50.00
We also learned that the collection will be available at Yankee Stadium for the upcoming games against Columbus Crew on September 17 and Charlotte FC on September 20. In addition, the merch will be on sale at the adidas flagship store (565 5th Ave, at E 47th St) starting September 9, and online at the MLS Store on September 13.
The news of the price adjustment first surfaced on Reddit, where a screenshot of an email was posted to r/NYCFC. "During the match, the latest New York City FC x adidas Soft Lux collaboration was priced incorrectly at the Yankee Stadium Store. This was due to a clerical error made by our retailer and has since been corrected," the email read. "If you purchased any of these items on August 30...the store will refund the original transaction, then create a new charge for the correct price with an additional 15% discount applied."
That's quite a difference. We did the math, and those who decided to shell out $240 last Saturday will be pleased to discover that they're effectively getting a $172 rebate, and will pay just $68 for the sweatshirt the end.
