New York City 4, North Carolina 0 - as it happenned!

NYCFC make easy work of the former RailHawks.

FT: NYCFC cruise past North Carolina 4-0 to earn their first-ever U.S. Open Cup win in club history!

It was a dominant performance from the Boys in Blue and huge testament to the club’s depth. Keaton Parks looked brilliant with his brace, as did Tony Rocha and JP Torres with their wide distribution. City moved the ball elegantly all game long and, despite being shorthanded, never looked like a team in desperation.

Defensively, it could’ve been without a few heart-stopping moments. But for the most part, it’s hard to find anything wrong with this one. Great win, Boys!

90’+1: STUVER WITH THE DOUBLE SAVE!!!

89’: Ismael Tajouri-Shradi comes on for Jesus Medina

79’: Alexandru Mitrita comes on for Daniel Bedoya

76’: GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!! Keaton Parks taps it home after another brilliant buildup!

NYCFC continue to play with their food as they have effortlessly cut up North Carolina’s backline all night long. That’s a brace for Parks and one could only think this could be the first of many starts to come.

71’: Brad Stuver has been terrific tonight!

52’: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLL!!! Keaton Parks nods it in to give City a three-goal lead!

Another beautiful cross ends up in the net. JP Torres put a great delivery to the far post, where the towering Parks just headed it in near post! 3-0 NYCFC

Keaton starts it. Keaton finishes it. ⚽️

The second half has begun and City lead 2-0. Can the Blues put this one completely out of reach?

45’+2: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!! Jesus Medina grabs a goal at the death of the first half!

Tony Rocha makes another beautiful delivery into the box and finds the Young DP at the back post. Eager to avenge sins of the past, Medina knocks it past the opposing keeper to give NYCFC a 2-0 lead as we enter the half!

That first touch.

Rocha's involved again, but Jesus Medina controls perfectly & pokes home to double the @NYCFC lead over @NorthCarolinaFC.

Halftime.

33’: Taty almost bangs one in on the full volley. It’s unfortunately right at the keeper.

25’: GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! City get their tally!

Tony Rocha centers the ball where Keaton Parks and Maxi Moralez were both likely targets. A North Carolina defender got in front of it, but deflected it into his own net. 1-0 NYCFC!

16’: Stuver comes up big! The veteran backup was forced into some double-save action there and was up to task. Beautiful stuff.

10’: Great run by Medina, great ball from Maxi. Unfortunately, the Young DP can’t capitalize.

Through the opening minutes, NYCFC controls the pace. Not many chances have been created thus far, but they’ve kept the ball. So long as they do that, their chances are good.

1’: And we’re off in Queens! Does NYCFC have enough in the tank to get past North Carolina?

Rosters are out! Just as we predicted, NYCFC are pretty beat when it comes to their squad. Many players are playing out of position and only four substitutes are available. Hopefully, it’s enough.
